In Montgomery County, a long-awaited emergency training facility officially broke ground earlier today. View the video from WDBJ CBS 7 in Roanoke.
The International Association of Women in Fire & Emergency Services is now accepting presentation proposals for the 2019 I-Women Leadership Conference in April. Submissions are due August 31, 2018.
The I-Women Leadership Conference includes hands-on training and workshops, education, networking, and mentoring.
The Virginia Department of Fire Programs hosts a series of Stakeholder Input Meetings to provide an opportunity for input and feedback from Virginia’s Fire Service. Many of the Division Chiefs are present to answer questions from both a division and program management aspect.
We cordially invite you to attend these meetings to give feedback and input that will assist the Virginia Department of Fire Programs to better service Virginia’s Fire Service.

The House unanimously approved H.R. 931, the Firefighter Cancer Registry Act. The bipartisan legislation creates a specialized national registry to provide researchers and epidemiologists with the tools and resources needed to improve research collection activities related to the monitoring of cancer incidence among firefighters.
The House had previously passed the bill by voice vote on September 12, 2017. However, on May 10th, the Senate amended the bill before approving it by unanimous consent.

Registration will be accepted by the VDFP Division 7 Office. Payment by check must accompany your application; credit card payment can be made via Bookstore, after registration is submitted. (VA Only) Please include copies of class prerequisite (IS 100, 200, 700). Make checks payable to the Treasurer of Virginia or if paying with credit card contact the VDFP Bookstore @ (804) 249-1976, after sending in your application. Deadline for registrations is August 15th, 2018.
